The London Art Fair is one of the most exciting events in the city’s cultural calendar, and it returns once more in early 2020. In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at what you should expect – whether this is your first visit or you’re a veteran of the fair.
What is London Art Fair?
London Art Fair is dedicated to modern and contemporary art, and encourages online engagement with the medium through a range of exhibits, workshops, talks and performances.
This blend of different activities allows visitors to really get to grips with the world of art. The event is often regarded amongst art lovers as the opening art event of the year. There’s lots to enjoy, and it’s a fantastic event to take part in during your stay at the San Domenico Hotel Chelsea London.
This annual exhibition showcases the latest and greatest contemporary photography. There’s plenty of variety in store, including photographs from solo artists and collectives.
Photo 50 is the centrepiece of the event, and something which regularly draws a large number of visitors to the London Art Fair.
Currently in its 17th year, Art Projects showcases a selection of superb contemporary art from around the world. This part of the London Art Fair has developed significant global critical acclaim.
The fair also champions the world of artistic film, and screens a number of highly-anticipated works which help to continue the contemporary art conversation.
Talks & Tours
The London Art Fair will include a series of daily tours, talks and workshops, each of which provide up-to-the-minute information on the latest events of the international art market.
These talks will explore everything you need to know about the world of contemporary art today, making them ideal for supplementing your visit while staying at accommodation in Chelsea London.
As a taster of what to expect, 2019’s talks included meditations on the role galleries play in art investment, and a look at the work of conservation in preserving artistic heritage, particularly in modern collections.
One of the highlights of the event, Thursday 23rd January 2020 will include a roster of exhibitions and talks which enhance the art fair. The full program will be announced in late-November, but it is expected to make full use of the spaces and galleries at the venue. Late events usually also include both tours and performances, perfect for a cultural evening out during your stay at hotels near Saatchi Gallery.
When and where is the London Art Fair?
The London Art Fair will return to the city between 22nd – 26th January 2020. It is held at the Business Design Centre, and can be easily accessed via public transport.
There is also a special preview evening taking place on the evening of 21st January 2020, allowing visitors to get a glimpse at the exhibitions and features which will be on display during the five-day event.
