London Fashion Week

It’s those brief few days when the UK capital rises, phoenix-like, up and out of the winter weather and (for several hours of the day and evening, at least) the dark, and explodes in a cornucopia of exclusive colours, designs and fantastic clobber. Yes, it’s London Fashion Week (15th-19th February 2019), of course.

And this year, garment-crazy groupies can get a taste of the action like never before thanks to the sensational incentive, joined at the festival’s hip, that’s ‘London Fashion Week: Insiders’ (16th-17th February). What is it? Well, should you be staying relatively nearby (at accommodation like, say, the San Domenico House hotel Chelsea) and you’re quick enough to snap up a ticket, it’s something that’ll get you access to goings-on right at the very heart of the festival.

Yes, ‘Insiders’ isn’t just set to give fashionistas a one-time-only, priceless insight into the world of today’s high fashion industry (and its major ‘fashion weeks’) but also the opportunity to attend talks with experienced experts, designers and key industry insiders – and attend the catwalk shows themselves.

Unadulterated access

Hosted by the official show-space that’s The Store X (at 180 Strand, right at the centre of the West End; so only a very short hop away from the very best accommodation in Kensington London), ‘Insiders’ is, don’t doubt it, all about the access. And that access to this season’s London Fashion Week – which is lining up to be a cracking one, at that – is simply unparalleled.

Here then, attendees will be able to engage with British brands, enjoy complimentary pampering sessions and, especially, meet and interact with international designers at the talks, which means they can grill the latter on not only fashion and beauty but also find out just what it takes to make in this notoriously tough industry.

Curated retail and expert talks

And yet, that’s far from all. Because this exclusive experience doesn’t just offer the opportunity to mingle with designers, retailers and fashion professionals (which’ll very much be a hub throughout Fashion Week, don’t doubt it), it also ensures attendees can rifle through – and, yes, purchase – some of the hottest looking and latest garments around. You never know; one or two items may even have been paraded on the catwalks themselves!

What’s for sure is that in The Store X’s curated shopping galleries, you’ll be able to check out and purchase from collections of women’s ready-to-wear items, as well as accessories and jewellery – all at (somewhat) knock-down prices. Brands that should be available include Astrid & Miyu, Designer Pop-Up Store, Georgia Hardinge, Jamie Wei Huang, Jovonna London, Julia Mays, Les Néréides Paris and Olivia & Pearl.

And, as for the talks, there’ll be audiences with industry insiders, as noted, as well as – if you’re lucky – true industry icons. For at previous such Q&A interviews and panel discussions the likes of David Gandy, Alex Shulman and Maisie Williams have played host; covering topics such as fashion industry careers, the reality for women in the industry and how not just to be an Instagram fashion influencer but live as a true fashionista.
