London’s summer festival season is now underway, and there really is no city quite like it for seeing the greatest artists in one location. If you’re visiting England’s capital this June, you’re in for a treat – here’s our pick of the best shows to look forward to…
The Pride festival is iconic, and runs throughout June and July with a range of events and the famed Pride parade. Celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, Pride seeks to provide a home to the marginalised and an inclusive atmosphere where all are welcome.
If you’re staying at our accommodation in Chelsea London, the events taking place this summer help to highlight the sheer diversity of the city. The first event this summer is the Pride in London 10K run, which takes place on 9th June 2019. The event starts in Hyde Park, and champions both health and togetherness – as well as providing the perfect way to warm-up for the parade! Other events throughout the month include everything from talent shows to gala dinners, quizzes and much more.
Greenwich & Docklands International Festival 2019
21st June 2019 – 6th July 2019
One of the largest festivals of outdoor art anywhere in the UK, this is a big favourite for fans of performance and spectacle! Last year, the festival hosted more than 100 performances, and the event was seen by an audience of over 500,000.
Taking place in various locations around the City of London, East London and Greenwich, you can expect to see lots of variety as well as some truly avant garde acts. The festival is part of a larger initiative, Royal Greenwich Festivals, which seeks to shine a light on the local culture. While staying at the San Domenico House London, a trip here is the perfect way to experience some of that local culture for yourself.
Hampton Court Palace Festival
6th – 22nd June 2019
As one of London’s most beautiful palaces, Hampton Court regularly hosts big events throughout the year, and the upcoming Hampton Court Palace Festival is a highlight of the summer season, ideal for visitors to accommodation in Chelsea London. This is the place to be if you’re in the mood for a wide range of incredible performances, and tickets are in high demand.
The festival will host some of the biggest names in music in the stunning Tudor courtyard, and in addition visitors can dine at a variety of food stalls dotted around the area. Picnics are also permitted, contributing to a relaxed vibe. For those who want to really indulge themselves, gazebos are available for hire along the waterside.
7th – 9th June 2019
This festival has had a makeover for 2019, with a new look and a new venue. Situated in a warehouse space in the city, there’ll also be some 10 acres of outdoor space to roam in – and a fantastic new sound system helping to boost the experience for those attending.
