London has always been a major destination for sports fans, with some of the best events in the world held here and some of the finest teams in a range of sports cultivated in and around the city. This summer promises plenty of opportunities to indulge your love of sport – here are our picks of the best events just around the corner…

Diving World Series

London Aquatics Centre
17th May 2019 – 19th May 2019

Welcoming the very best divers from around the world, the upcoming FINA Diving World Series is set to see top talent compete for their place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The venue is fitting – Queen Elizabeth Park was originally constructed to host the London 2012 Olympic Games – and the event itself marks a fitting way to support international sport whilst staying at your Chelsea Hotel in London.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Lord’s Cricket Ground / The Oval
30th May 2019 – 14th July 2019

Cricket is one of London’s most beloved sports, and the city is home to two of the most impressive cricket venues in the world – Lord’s Cricket Ground (often referred to as ‘the home of cricket’) and The Oval. Both will be hosting major events from this year’s Cricket World Cup, so if you’re eager to embrace the local love of cricket while staying at the San Domenico House Hotel in Chelsea and Knightsbridge London, this is a great way to get involved.

Tickets for the main events are available via ticket resellers, as the original ballot has already ended. However, for those interested in joining the Opening Marty on The Mall, they’re in luck – this event takes place on 29th May and tickets can still be accessed via ballot until 1st May 2019.

Major League Baseball: London Series 19

London Stadium
29th June 2019 – 30th June 2019

Fans of baseball have reason to celebrate during their stay at a Chelsea Hotel in London this summer, with the arrival of the London series 19, set to be hosted by the London Stadium. This two-game series sees the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees battle one another at the stadium, and the neighbouring Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park provides ample opportunities to grab a few drinks and snacks with a US-theme, designed to help deliver an authentic baseball experience in the UK.

Hockey: FIH Pro League

Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre
27th April 2019 – 23rd June 2020

When you think of London sport, hockey may not immediately spring to mind – but this summer marks several key events in the international hockey calendar. With both home and away fixtures, there will be 16 matches played across the city, primarily held at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. Expect fast-paced matches between some of the major players in the worldwide sports scene.
