Victoria and albert museum

The V&A museum, close to the Knightsbridge neighbourhood, and which was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, still stands as the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and design. Housing a permanent collection of over 2.3million objects, the collections span a breathtaking 5,000 years and more of human craftsmanship and creativity. Exhibiting from across ceramics, furniture, fashion, glass, metalwork, photographs, sculptures, arts, books, textile and paintings, there is quite simply something to interest everyone with new group exhibitions regularly unveiled. The museum still stands by its original principles: to make works of art available to all, to educate working people, and to inspire British designers and manufacturers.
